There might not be a more underappreciated cornerback/special teams weapon in the entire Big 12 this year than the standout rising senior and former blue-chip recruit D’Shawn Jamison. Texas saw Jamison become one of the most proficient playmaking cornerbacks not just in the Big 12, but in the entire country in about the past season and a half.

Let’s just take a look at some of the numbers that Jamison put up for the Longhorns since about halfway through the 2019 regular season. Since Week 4 of the 2019 season, Jamison registered a dozen pass breakups, three tackles for loss, three interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and five quarterback pressures.

Jamison actually didn’t have a single pick last fall, but that is largely because opposing offenses weren’t throwing his way as much. He was only targeted a little more than half the time last season than he was the year prior. And even more impressive, Jamison didn’t allow any passing touchdowns in coverage assignments last year.

With Jamison having two stellar seasons in different ways since 2019, it feels like this fall is where he can put it all together and truly become one of the most special cornerbacks in the nation.
