Sebastian Cheeks, LB

One particular recruitment that got very interesting in the past few weeks that the Longhorns are involved in is with the four-star 6-foot-3 and 210-pound Evanston Township (IL) linebacker Sebastian Cheeks. With the Notre Dame Fighting Irish laying off of Cheeks a bit in the past couple of months, the door opened for competing schools to make headway in his pursuit.

Texas is one of those schools that took full advantage during visit season last month to form more traction with Cheeks at the right time. Some of the other potential top schools to watch for Cheeks include the North Carolina Tar Heels, Oregon Ducks, Michigan Wolverines, and Wisconsin Badgers.

If a pecking order had to be formed, it would likely consist of two or three schools at the top (likely North Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin) with two others falling behind at the moment (likely Oregon and Michigan).

Texas looked to have a successful official visit with Cheeks back on June 11. But it also appears that the likes of North Carolina and Wisconsin made a good amount of progress in their pursuit of Cheeks in their official visits last month too.

Choate and Kwiatkowski, the top recruiters in this pursuit, are going to have to fend off multiple competing schools on the trail to land Cheeks. If a decision date does come from the talented linebacker in the remainder of the summer months, Texas fans should stay glued to this blue-chip target of the 2022 class.
