A lot was said of note at Big 12 Media Days in Arlington, TX, this week. But definitely one of the more notable statements concerning the Texas football program and new head coach Steve Sarkisian arrived on the afternoon of July 15. When Sark took center stage at Big 12 Media Days this week, he did talk on the potential of star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson.

Bijan was also one of the Longhorns representing the program at Big 12 Media Days on July 15. The three main people representing Texas at Big 12 Media Days were Bijan, Sark, and redshirt junior defensive tackle Keondre Coburn.

Moreover, one of the interesting comparisons of the final day in Arlington for Big 12 Media Days involved Bijan and the former USC Trojans superstar running back Reggie Bush. Sark is a former USC head coach, so he knows firsthand the legend of Bush’s days with the Trojans in the backfield.

Sark did mention that there are some viable similarities between Robinson and Bush.

Bijan himself also mentioned that he “wants to be a wow type of player every time he touches the ball”, similar to that of Bush.

High praise from Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian comparing Bijan Robinson to Reggie Bush

Lofty aspirations, but potentially attainable ones as he is a Heisman contender entering the fall. Bijan was also one of the nation’s most impressive running backs down the stretch last season.

Bijan noted in Big 12 Media Days that he does wear the No. 5 because of Bush. There was high praise all over the place both for Bush and Bijan. This should help his confidence heading into the 2021 season.

Down the stretch last season, Bijan’s production exploded as his workload started to expand. Former Texas head coach Tom Herman did not give Bijan the role he deserved throughout most of last season. But Texas also had a strong running back room at the time between Bijan, Roschon Johnson, and Keaontay Ingram.

Texas finished up last season with a record of 7-3 (5-3 Big 12) under the direction of the former head coach Herman. Sark and the Longhorns are set to open up the 2021 regular season at home on Sep. 4 against Louisiana.
