As maybe the most abrupt and surprising commitment that the Longhorns landed for the 2022 class since Sark was hired, the Denton, TX, native Jordan was a very welcome addition to the mix. Jordan looked to be down to the likes of the Longhorns, Sooners, and Ohio State Buckeyes, as the final three schools for his commitment decision.

But Oklahoma did seem to have a sizable edge to get the decision of Jordan over Texas and Ohio State. The June 18 official visit that Jordan had with Riley and the Sooners seemingly locked in his commitment when it was announced that he would be deciding on July 14.

The three official visits that Jordan took last month came with Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Texas. It looks like it did help for the Longhorns to get the last word with Jordan, as they got him to campus for his official visit on June 25.

This is a big win on the recruiting trail for Sark and new cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph. Missing out on the talented four-star John Paul II cornerback Terrance Brooks to Ohio State in the first week of the dead period made it key for Texas to get a depth boost in the secondary in the near future.

And Texas surely did get a nice versatile depth boost in the secondary in the 2022 class by landing this commitment from Jordan. He is the second safety, and third defensive back overall, in the 2022 class at the moment. The other two defensive backs in the 2022 class are four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau and four-star Aledo safety Bryan Allen Jr.
