Now less than 50 days away from the official start of the 2021 regular season slate, the offseason is winding down for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program. Texas just wrapped up another key date on the offseason timeline, with Big 12 Media Days in the rearview mirror.

Sark and the Longhorns are set to open up the regular season this fall at home on Sep. 4 against Louisiana at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. That will be one of two difficult non-conference foes for the Longhorns during the regular season. The other will come when Texas hits the road to travel to Fayetteville to face the longtime rival Arkansas Razorbacks on Sep. 11.

That road meeting with the Razorbacks is set to kickoff under the lights in Fayetteville at 6 p.m. CT. That will be the first night game of the fall for the Longhorns. And that could be an opportunity for Sark to establish himself as the Longhorns head coach against a former familiar SEC West foe in Arkansas.

Steve Sarkisian can positively impact mostly upperclassmen for Texas football this fall

Expectations will be high right away for Sark as the Longhorns next head coach. He has a pretty talented roster that he’s working with on both sides of the ball this fall. There will be expectations that Texas at least reaches nine wins this fall, in all likelihood.

Reaching the Big 12 Championship Game would be a bonus, but it is also something that looks to be attainable in 2021 for Texas. For that to happen, though, Texas will need some upperclassmen to step up in bigger roles this fall.

Here’s a look into three upperclassmen that are ready to get their chance to shine in the spotlight with Sark as the Longhorns head coach.
