All the hype for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class this summer continues to be the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. All sorts of discussions concerning what the top schools could turn out to be for Manning heading into the fall dominate a lot of the recruiting news headlines in the past few weeks and months.
But if one thing is known thus far concerning the connection between Manning and the Longhorns, it’s that this school has positioned itself pretty well early on in his recruitment.
It will likely be a good while before we know a decision date for Manning. And that’s just fine.
Texas just has to stay on this by continuing to keep Manning as their top priority, by a good margin, among quarterback targets for the 2023 class. So far, Manning was far and away the top quarterback priority for the 2023 class.

He was also on campus for a key unofficial visit last month during the big weekend of 2023 visitors. There was a lot of energy surrounding that visit that really kicked off the summer season becoming known as “Arch Madness”.
Although it is good to see new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns keeping this recruitment of Manning as such a high priority, there need to be some other options that emerge for the 2023 class at the quarterback position. In the case that Texas does eventually strike out with Manning, backup options need to be available.
