What will be an important final weekend of the month of July on the trail for both the 2022 and 2023 Texas football recruiting classes, the list of potential visitors is already starting to pile up. And there will be a large emphasis placed on how new head coach Steve Sarkisian can pile up a key list of visitors for the 2023 class as that recruiting cycle will start to come to the forefront before too long.

According to a report from Horns247 on July 16 (paid content), one of the biggest 2023 visitors that Sark and the Longhorns are looking to line up for the final weekend of July is the elite five-star Warren (CA) quarterback Nicholaus Iamaleava. It’s good to get more quarterback prospects on the 2023 big board for the Longhorns at this point of the offseason.

Sark and the Longhorns prioritized the recruitment of the top five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning to such a large degree of late, that they’ve likely overlooked some other options at the position. And while it is certainly the right move to give top priority to the pursuit of Manning, there should be some other backup options at hand for the 2023 class.

It also looks like the right time that Texas could get Iamaleave on campus for a visit. With the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, USC Trojans, and UCLA Bruins, looking to start establishing themselves as frontrunners in the race to land a commitment from Iamaleave, Texas can make a positive impression with him at the perfect time.

Could 5-Star QB Nicholaus Iamaleave become another top target of the 2023 Texas football recruiting class?

We should continue to see if this visit with the Longhorns results in a scholarship offer for Iamaleave. That will be an indication moving forward if he will become one of the top priorities at quarterback for the Longhorns 2023 class.

Iamaleava is also reportedly set to have visits with the likes of the rival Texas A&M Aggies and LSU Tigers during this trip to this part of the country to round out the month of July. As of the morning of July 17, Texas A&M is the only one of these three schools that has sent a scholarship offer Iamaleava’s way.

Alabama, Texas A&M, USC, UCLA, and Ohio State, are five of the nearly 20 schools on Iamaleava’s growing offer sheet. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet are the Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan State Spartans, Oregon Ducks, and Tennessee Volunteers.

Iamaleava is also one of the highest-rated quarterback targets for the Longhorns to offer early on in his recruitment. He ranks as the nation’s No. 41 2023 high school prospect, No. 5 quarterback, and No. 4 prospect out of California (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 22 high school prospect, No. 4 quarterback, and No. 4 prospect out of California.

Texas had one five-star commit in the 2023 class prior to the decommitment of the elite El Campo running back Rueben Owens last month. Sark and the Longhorns are now back at square one, trying to find the first commit of the 2023 class.
