In all likelihood, new head coach Chris Beard will either have one or no more additions to the roster for the Texas basketball program out of the NCAA Transfer Portal after a big weekend. Texas added a commitment from the former standout Pitt Panthers and Minnesota Golden Gophers junior point guard Marcus Carr out of the transfer portal on July 17.

Some truly magical work by Beard and the Longhorns in the transfer portal this offseason should be about done after landing this huge commitment from Carr over the weekend. If there is to be any more activity in the portal this summer for Beard and the Longhorns, it would likely be to add a backup center.

That is really about the only positional/rotational need that could come to mind for Texas ahead of next season. Texas really has done some good work in the transfer portal this offseason now with six legitimate additions to turn this into a championship-caliber rotation.

Addition of Marcus Carr makes the rotation for Texas basketball nearly complete this offseason

It wouldn’t be surprising if Texas just now focused on building up team chemistry and establishing the actual pecking order in the rotation at this point of the summer. But it is worth noting what’s left in the transfer portal at this point of the offseason if Texas goes out to get a backup center.

There is still a realistic chance that Beard turns to the portal for help to round out the frontcourt unit. Here’s a look into who the final transfer portal addition of the offseason could be for the Longhorns if they want to get one more big man.
