What originally lured Sark to USC as the quarterbacks coach was his former coach from his days playing for BYU as their signal-caller, Norm Chow. From 2001-2004, Chow was the offensive coordinator at USC. Sark was the quarterbacks coach at USC for three of those years. The only one that he was not on staff at USC for with Chow as offensive coordinator was when he was the Raiders quarterbacks coach in 2004.

But the best quarterback that Chow ever coached up during his time as offensive coordinator with the Trojans was the 2002 Heisman Trophy winner and the first overall pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2003 NFL Draft, Carson Palmer. It was pretty crazy that Palmer was never able to win a National Championship given how good he was for the Trojans.

Yet, he still put up some very solid numbers as he helped USC rise to national prominence in the early 2000s. Obviously, the best individual season for Palmer during his time at USC was in 2002. During that 2002 campaign, Palmer registered 3,942 passing yards, 33 passing touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and four rushing touchdowns.

Sark got to see USC really have some electric skill position players put up numbers in 2002. USC had two wide receivers go over 1,000 yards in that season, with Keary Colbert and Mike Williams leading the way for that group.
