Texas basketball-ex Kevin Durant, Team USA dominate Iran 120-66
Former star Texas basketball forward Kevin Durant and the United States came through in a big way in a needed win over Iran on July 28. KD and Team USA got a dominant win over Iran on the night of July 27/early in the morning of July 28 by the final score of 120-66. This was by far one of the most impressive performances we’ve seen from Team USA in six games between the pre-Olympic exhibition circuit and the two in pool play thus far.
KD and Team USA are now 1-1 in pool play following this win over Iran. This comes after a pretty big letdown in a loss to France to open up the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, last weekend.
Now all the United States needs to at least move on to the knockout stage is a win over the Czech Republic later this week. Get a win over the Czech Republic, and the United States will sit in a great position moving forward in the Olympics.

Moreover, this was more of a low-key performance for KD with Team USA. He did score in double figures, but barely. He registered 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and three blocks. And KD shot 4-of-8 from the field, 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, and didn’t have any attempts from the free-throw line.
This was a much different type of KD we saw in the win over Iran compared to other outings for Team USA this month. He had one of the most well-rounded games over anyone in the starting unit for the United States.
KD actually combined for more steals and blocks than anyone else for the United States, even star big man Bam Adebayo who also registered three blocks.
Moving forward, this can be a win that KD and the United States uses as a building block to finally reach the potential everyone knows this team has. It was a rocky road up to this point, with Team USA posting a record of just 3-3 since the start of the pre-Olympic exhibition circuit.
Next up for KD and the United States is a meeting with the Czech Republic, who has just one NBA player on the team in Chicago Bulls combo guard Tomas Satoransky. Tip-off between the United States and Czech Republic to round out pool play is set for July 31.
