Texas Football: 3 most underrated 2022 commits entering the fall

A solid week thus far for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class came to a head on the morning of Aug. 4 with the second commitment in the past six days. Texas landed a commitment from the underrated three-star Mater Dei linebacker Eoghan Kerry.

Landing Kerry brings the 2022 class up to 16 commits for new head coach Steve Sarkisian. A strong run on the recruiting trail for Texas in the past six weeks put the 2022 class in a position to compete for the top spot in the Big 12 for this cycle.

Texas is knocking on the door for having another elite recruiting class. Sark did a nice job in his first offseason as the Longhorns head coach, but his job is not done yet.

Still, this is a good time to look back on what the Longhorns did thus far on the recruiting trail, with a healthy number of commits in the 2022 class. Texas holds the most blue-chip commits of any program in the Big 12 at the moment, with 10. And there are also five three-star prospects, some of which are on the brink of getting that elusive blue-chip label.

The visit season did a lot of good for the Longhorns 2022 class, and there are still some big targets that this coaching staff is waiting to hear from on commitment decisions. Some of the top targets remaining for the Longhorns 2022 include five-star offensive guard Devon Campbell and five-star cornerback Denver Harris.
