Iowa State

Texas Tech and Baylor are definitely fan bases that find a more heated rivalry with the Longhorns than the Iowa State Cyclones. But the rise to the status of a national contender for head coach Matt Campbell and the Clones put this program in position to try and upend the likes of Oklahoma and Texas on an annual basis now.

Campbell has established Iowa State as a top football program in the Big 12 year in and year out now. And that’s why the Clones have to find it frustration that as soon as this program rises to national prominence under a stable head coach, Texas and Oklahoma leave the Big 12 for the SEC. That is a clear reason for Iowa State fans, players, and coaches, to be more motivated to beat these two schools this fall.

There will also be more than just Campbell looking to prove a point this fall. Star quarterback Brock Purdy got mixed results as a starter for Iowa State against Texas. But if he beats the Longhorns this fall, then he could finish up his college career with a record fo 3-1 in this series. That would be a nice way for Purdy to end his college career.

Texas and Iowa State are set to meet on Nov. 6 in Ames. That is sure to be one of the most hostile atmospheres that Sark and the Longhorns will play in this fall. Not to mention how tough it will already be to face a talented and experienced Iowa State team led by the likes of Purdy and star running back Breece Hall.
