Texas Football: 4 players who could transfer next offseason
The question begs to be asked each passing fall camp, how will the depth chart playout for the Texas football program? This time, it will be up to new head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff to figure out what the depth chart will look like on both sides of the ball now in the midst of fall camp.
Sark and the Longhorns have a lot of decisions to make in the coming days and weeks as the start of the 2021 college football season is very close. Texas opens up the regular season slate at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Sep. 4 against the Louisiana Ragin-Cajuns.
Meanwhile, Texas still doesn’t have a starting quarterback picked out yet. Sophomore signal-caller Hudson Card and redshirt junior Casey Thompson are still duking it out to figure out who will take the reigns as the starting quarterback for Week 1.
Texas football could see movement in the transfer portal very soon
But that is just one of a number of battles that are still being had to configure the Longhorns depth chart on each side of the ball in the midst of fall camp. There was just no way that Texas wasn’t going to have a plethora of position battles this fall, with some key roster attrition on offense especially, and a completely new coaching staff getting worked in.
Something that will play a role in the coming months for the Longhorns depending on how the depth chart shakes out this fall is movement in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Texas is surely no stranger to movement in the transfer portal under Sark’s direction.
But Texas is likely going to lose some more players to the portal entering next offseason. Knowing which players could be put in a position to transfer could help Sark and his staff build out the depth chart in fall camp.
