Big 12 Football: 3 schools that would succeed right away in the PAC-12
As the talk of conference realignment continues this week, mainly surrounding the Big 12 football programs that remain at this point, there’s a lot to look at. But there’s not really a whole lot of concrete discussion concerning where the eight remaining Big 12 schools could land in this round of conference realignment.
It’s hard to tell exactly when and where the dominoes will fall for the remaining eight Big 12 schools in this round of conference realignment. But we do know that the most viable landing spots right now for most of the schools that are left could be the PAC-12 and American Athletic Conference.
PAC-12 a viable move right away for a trio of Big 12 football programs?
Meanwhile, some schools like the Kansas Jayhawks and West Virginia Mountaineers could be natural fits in other power conferences. It wouldn’t be all that surprising to see West Virginia land in the ACC with a program like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. And it makes a lot of sense for Kansas to land in the Big Ten given its status as a true blue blood program in men’s hoops.
What set off this round of discussion for conference realignment was the departure of the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners from the Big 12 to the SEC. That came last month. And in a matter of weeks, it feels like Oklahoma and Texas announced the intentions to leave the Big 12 for the SEC a few years ago.
There’s so much that has already happened, and so much that could still happen, anytime realignment conversations come about. And if any of the remaining Big 12 schools leave for the PAC-12, which could succeed on the gridiron right away?
