Big 12 Football: 3 schools that would succeed right away in the PAC-12
Oklahoma State
TCU and the Oklahoma State Cowboys might be the two most appealing programs from a football perspective at this point in this round of conference realignment. TCU would bring a solid academic prestige and a tradition of succeeding against west coast schools to the table for the PAC-12. And Oklahoma State would bring potentially the most potent athletic program as a whole to the table for the PAC-12 among the remaining Big 12 schools.
Moreover, head coach Mike Gundy and the Pokes would also be one of the most entertaining and polarizing that the PAC-12 could make from the remaining Big 12 programs. Gundy has quickly established himself as a national brand with his own style. The mullet is renowned across the college football landscape.
Oklahoma State also became one of the more relevant football programs on a consistent basis in the Big 12 since Gundy became the head coach in the mid-2000s. In that time, Gundy has established a record of 137-67 (.672 winning percentage) and won a double-digit number of bowl games with the Pokes.
It’s clear that a trio of Iowa State, TCU, and Oklahoma State, could be formidable on the gridiron against the existing competition from the PAC-12. Oklahoma State has recruited and developed players well-enough to be able to compete on a consistent basis it seems in the PAC-12 too. That is with Gundy as head coach or someone that produces similar results in the win column and with the product on the field.
