Prince Dorbah, EDGE

A true edge rusher that Longhorns fans are really waiting to see breakthrough at this point is the former highly-touted four-star recruit and sophomore Prince Dorbah. Although he only got a handful of snaps last season, we really got to see the explosiveness off the edge that Dorbah brings to the table.

There are other areas in which Dorbah still needs to improve. He’s not the best at sealing the edge in run defense. And while he is still adding some size to his frame, missed tackles could be a problem when he has to pursue the ball off the line of scrimmage.

Nonetheless, Dorbah is about as pure and explosive as it gets among pass rushers on this roster for Texas. It would be foolish for this coaching staff to not at least plug-and-play Dorbah a good bit this fall in key game situations.

Dorbah got to make his debut last fall in the season opener against the UTEP Miners. But all he got to rack up stat-wise was one tackle. He should get more exposure when Choate and Kwiatkowski are still working out the kinks early in the regular season, especially against less athletic opposition like that of the Louisiana Ragin-Cajuns and Rice Owls.

The 6-foot-3 and 235-pound Dorbah has the frame to be excellent at the JACK linebacker position for Texas. He still likely needs to add around five or 10 pounds, but he’s got a similar frame and motor that Ossai had (at 6-foot-3 and 245-pounds around his sophomore season).
