In an exciting time for the Texas football program, there are so many storylines to watch at multiple levels. Texas and new head coach Steve Sarkisian are within a few weeks of kicking off the 2021 regular season slate, which comes at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Sep. 4 against the Louisiana Ragin-Cajuns.

And then, there are some former Longhorns that are trying to jockey a good placement for themselves in newfound roles at the next level. A decent haul among former Longhorns in the 2021 NFL Draft class gives fans on the Forty Acres some familiar faces to watch in the preseason.

More specifically, the first week of the NFL preseason brings the excitement of what lies ahead for this season. Texas has some new talent at the next level that does show that the pipeline of players coming off of the Forty Acres to the NFL is starting to pick back up of late.

Quarterbacks are starting to become more prominent among former Texas football players in the NFL

Quarterback was a big point of contention among Longhorns in the NFL. Ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft, the most recent quarterback that the Longhorns had selected in the actual seven rounds came back in 2010.

But that changed this year. And if Texas continues to improve the level of player development within the football program in the coming years, then the NFL talent will continue to come out of Austin at an increasing pace.
