Texas Football: 3 OLs ready to boost NFL Draft stock under Kyle Flood
Junior Angilau, OG/C
If there was one name to pick out among those that should already be a solidified NFL Draft prospect in the trenches for the Longhorns this fall, it should be the former four-star recruit and junior offensive guard/center Junior Angilau. The writing was on the wall for the past two years that Angilau could be one of the most consistent and skilled offensive linemen on the Forty Acres.
The physical tools, motor, hands, and footspeed, were always there for Angilau. It was about him putting it all together at the right position for him to show out as a solid blocker in the passing and ground game. And it all really started to come together for Angilau down the stretch last season. He was consistent in run-blocking all year long.
But the pass blocking shined through for Angilau in the last four games of the season. Angilau didn’t allow a single sack or quarterback hit in the last four games during the 2020 campaign.
Angilau should already be considered a day three pick in the 2022 or 2023 NFL Draft class. Considering his upward trajectory from the past two seasons, his draft stock should only continue to elevate from here on out.
The 6-foot-6 and 320-pound Angilau is likely to slide over to the center position this fall. Pretty much all of his snaps prior to this fall came at guard (left guard last season and right guard in 2019). This should be a transition that isn’t too difficult for Angilau from guard to center, similar to Kerstetter last fall.
