A key decision is set to be announced on the afternoon of Aug. 26 for a rising target of the 2022 Texas football recruiting class. Texas and new head coach Steve Sarkisian is set to see the likes of four-star Southaven (MS) defensive lineman Aaron Bryant announce his decision on Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. CT.

Bryant announced on his Twitter timeline on the morning of Aug. 22 that he will be making his commitment at Southaven High School this week. And it could be the first blue-chip commit for Texas this month that joins the 2022 class.

Texas currently sits among the finalists for the Mississippi native 6-foot-4 and 305-pound defensive lineman. Bryant took one of his three official visits with Texas back in June. The other two came with the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas A&M Aggies.

It is also worth noting that Bryant had an unofficial visit with the Ole Miss Rebels on July 30.

Texas football in the thick of the running for 4-Star DL Aaron Bryant

According to a report from Horns247 (paid content) on Aug. 25, there isn’t much that should change Texas as a potential frontrunner to land a commitment from Bryant this week. New Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis is doing good work on the recruiting trail for his group in the 2022 class, and Bryant could be the next man up in this regard.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions currently have the four most recent experts picking Bryant’s commitment to land with the Longhorns over Ole Miss and the rest of the field. And the Rivals FutureCast has all of their analysts and publishers picking Bryant’s commitment to go to Texas.

Texas also has new safeties coach Blake Gideon as one of the top recruiters after Bryant. There’s a connection for Gideon back to Ole Miss, which helped establish the connection with Bryant.

This could be a big get in the 2022 class for Davis, Sark, and the Longhorns. It would also be a sizable win on the recruiting trail for Gideon, who’s increasingly doing well for this 2022 class.

Bryant is one of the better remaining prospects left on the board for Texas at this point of the cycle. He ranks as the nation’s No. 337 2022 high school prospect, No. 47 defensive lineman, and No. 9 prospect out of Mississippi (247Sports Composite).
