Use Bijan Robinson to exploit the Louisiana defensive line

Louisiana really hasn’t faced all that many running backs that are as stout as the star sophomore Texas rusher Bijan Robinson. Outside of the Iowa State Cyclones’ reigning All-American running back Breece Hall last season, Louisiana won’t get to gameplan for this caliber of a rusher as Bijan.

And Texas has the threat of multiple stud running backs that will be difficult for Louisiana to prepare for next weekend. Texas also has the likes of junior Roschon Johnson and the former Crimson Tide sophomore transfer Keilan Robinson to boast against the Louisiana defense.

In the last two games of last season, Bijan registered a whopping six total touchdowns, more than 18 yards per carry, and more than 450 total yards from scrimmage. He’s got about as much momentum as possible heading into this game.

And maybe the weakest part of the Louisiana defense this fall will be along the defensive line. That doesn’t bode well considering the most effective way Louisiana could disrupt the Texas offense would be with a solid pass rush and the ability to stuff Bijan.

While the Louisiana pass defense only gave up 170 passing yards per game, and less than one passing touchdown, the run defense wasn’t as stout. Louisiana allowed well over four yards per carry on the ground last season, 185 rushing yards per game, and nearly two scores on the ground.

Despite Louisiana pulling off the major upset of Iowa State last season, Hall was still very effective on the ground for head coach Matt Campbell. Hall registered more than 100 rushing yards, north of five yards per carry, and one rushing score against Louisiana last season. Bijan has the potential to gash this defensive line next weekend too.

This will be a big way for Sark to get the Texas offense rolling in the season opener.
