One of the best single days in a while for any Texas football recruiting class arrived on Aug. 30 for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff. Texas got a dramatic boost in the 2022 class early this week thanks to the addition of two commits that can play along the front seven. The first blue-chip defensive lineman that Texas added to the 2022 class on Aug. 30 was four-star Marlin (TX) product Jaray Bledsoe.

And then, in the night of Aug. 30 the Longhorns landed a commitment from four-star Ascension Catholic (LA) edge rusher J’mond Tapp. This duo of commitments bring the Longhorns to more than five blue-chips along the defensive line in the 2022 class at this point in time.

It was not all that long ago that Texas landed a commitment from yet another blue-chip defensive lineman. Texas also nabbed four-star Southaven (MS) defensive lineman Aaron Bryant back on Aug. 26.

Texas football getting deeper in the 2022 class after adding a trio of blue-chip commits in the past four days

There is some serious depth present in the front seven now for the Longhorns in the 2022 class. And the amount of talent and depth that this staff has added to the front seven by way of the NCAA Transfer Portal and the recruiting trail since taking over back in the winter months this offseason is enormous.

Texas is now up to 20 commits in total in the 2022 class. This group is now also one of just four recruiting classes in the country for this cycle that has at least a dozen blue-chip commits.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 6 in the nation and in the top spot in the Big 12 behind the Oklahoma Sooners.

Now, who could be up next in the Longhorns 2022 class with only a few spots remaining? Here’s a look at three names to watch that could be committed next for the Longhorns.
