It is a big week for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program as his No. 21 ranked squad takes on head coach Billy Napier and the No. 23 ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. Texas will by no means get an easy start to this regular season slate. Louisiana will not give Sark and his staff an opportunity to gain some easy confidence and momentum out of the gates.

Sark and the Longhorns did get to name a starting quarterback barely ahead of Week 1. Less than two weeks ago, it was officially confirmed that Texas will be rolling with the former four-star recruit and sophomore Hudson Card as the starting quarterback over redshirt junior Casey Thompson this weekend.

Who could benefit with Hudson Card starting for Texas football out of the gates this fall?

But it doesn’t sound like it will be surprising if Sark gives some in-game reps this weekend to Thompson. That could be indicative of how short of a leash Card could have out of the gates as the starting quarterback this fall.

Nonetheless, this is a big opportunity for Card to prove himself in the spotlight. If Card can come through with a Week 1 win for Sark and the Longhorns, it would prove that he deserved the starting quarterback job in all likelihood.

Card is going to bring an underrated amount of mobility to the table and a great arm to the table for the Longhorns this season. Which players will be able to benefit the most from that this season? Here’s a look into three players to watch that will benefit from Card as the starting quarterback this fall.
