Texas Football: 4 overreactions after decisive win over No. 23 UL
A performance that was better than many people expected from No. 21 ranked Texas football in the regular season opener this weekend was delivered in a big win over the No. 23 ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. New head coach Steve Sarkisian saw his squad come out with a strong effort on both sides of the ball in a 20-point win over an experienced group led by Louisiana head coach Billy Napier.
You couldn’t hope for much better realistically out of Sark and the Longhorns in this critical regular season opener this weekend. Texas had a challenging opponent out of the gates in one of the best Group of Five teams in the country. Louisiana started off its magical run last season with an upset win over a very good Iowa State Cyclones team in Ames.
That’s what led to some unsettled feelings about how the Ragin’ Cajuns would challenge the Longhorns in Austin on Sep. 4.
Texas football gets a complete performance in a convincing Week 1 win over Louisiana
Yet, any of those unsettling feelings were put to rest in this well-rounded effort by the Longhorns players and the new coaching staff. Texas looked well-prepared and motivated on both sides of the ball to get a very desirable result in Week 1.
Texas knocked off Louisiana by the convincing final score of 38-18. This is a really good way for Texas to begin the Sark era. But things won’t get much easier as the Longhorns have to hit the road next weekend to face the Arkansas Razorbacks in a key night game.
For now, though, the Longhorns can be happy about this result from a key win over Louisiana. Here’s a look at four overreactions for the Longhorns following this 20-point win over the Cajuns.
