A huge weekend for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program has an impact that should extend to the recruiting trail for the 2022 and 2023 classes. If the success is sustained throughout the fall, this positive impact from success on the field will extend all the way to the 2024 recruiting class.

Yet, it is important for Sark and the Longhorns to capitalize on momentum built by success on the field with nice results on the recruiting trail. That is something that usually wasn’t present for former head coach Tom Herman. But the consistent success on the field was never really there for the Longhorns under Herman.

Texas already built some real momentum for the 2022 class heading into the regular season after landing a trio of key blue-chip commits to play along the defensive line. That now has the 2022 Longhorns class well in position to finish up with a top 10 ranked group in the nation for this cycle.

Texas football needs to take advantage of this wave of momentum in recruiting after the win over UL

But Texas needs to hit the ground running soon with the 2023 class. Wait too long, and the Longhorns will fall behind in the running to build up a solid 2023 class among the nation’s best programs.

There seems to be a good amount of buzz from 2023 prospects, though, surrounding Texas following the big 20-point win over the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns at home on Sep. 4. Get another win next weekend over the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road, and there should be even more buzz building around this program on the recruiting trail ahead of the move from the Big 12 to the SEC.

Here’s a look into five key Longhorns recruits that were impressed by what the team did on the field in the season-opening win over Louisiana this weekend.
