Largely depending on what happens for the Longhorns with the former commit and four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau, the secondary could be fantastic in the 2022 class. Texas could continue that momentum in the 2023 class by landing a commitment from the touted four-star Denton-Guyer safety Ryan Yaites in the near future.

The 6-foot-1 and 175-pound Yaites is one of the targets to know for Texas during the 2023 recruiting cycle in the defensive backfield. He is currently one of the highest-rated secondary offers to go out for the Longhorns 2023 class.

He ranks as the nation’s No. 114 2023 high school prospect, No. 9 safety, and the No. 19 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).

Texas has made Yaites a priority of late, as evidence by his May scholarship offer and the graphic sent his way during the contact period last week.

New safeties coach Blake Gideon has a big recruitment on his hands with Yaites. And Texas appears to be headed in the right direction with Yaites after this big win over Louisiana. He mentioned that Texas is a “good football team” and that he believes that this team “can go on a run this year”.

That type of optimism and outlook for Yaites in the Longhorns really bodes well for where Texas can trend in the coming months in his recruitment. Texas will need it to fend off the likes of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ole Miss Rebels, Oklahoma State Cowboys, USC, TCU, who will be charging hard in pursuit of Yaites’ commitment.
