There is yet another difficult challenge ahead for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and No. 21 ranked Texas football in Week 2. Texas passed a major test in Week 1 in the first game for Sark as head coach. Sark took down head coach Billy Napier and the No. 23 ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to open up the regular season slate during the holiday weekend.

Following the big 38-18 win at home on Sep. 4 in the regular season opener over Louisiana for Sark and the Longhorns, there is a big looming test that comes on the road on Sep. 11. Texas will hit the road to travel to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks and head coach Sam Pittman out of the SEC West under the lights on Sep. 11.

Where Sark and his staff will particularly be put to the test in this meeting is twofold. Texas will be put to the test in preparation on defense for the connection between quarterback K.J. Jefferson and standout wide receiver Treylon Burks. And then on the other side of the ball, Texas has to worry about scheming up to face respected defensive coordinator Barry Odom.

Steve Sarkisian has multiple weapons he can use with Texas football to beat the Arkansas defense

The former Mizzou Tigers head coach Odom has this Arkansas defense headed in a promising direction. But this is also a defense that Sark torched in the past in an efficient manner during his time as the Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator (on two occasions).

In particular to the Odom defensive scheme, Arkansas is likely to come out with either a dime set or a 4-2-5, depending on how the Hogs prepare this week. Arkansas does like the look with two high safeties and six defensive backs against pass-happy offenses. That’s likely going to be a lot of what Sark and the Longhorns offense see next weekend.

With that in mind, here’s a look into three weapons for the Longhorns that Sark can use to expose the Arkansas defense.
