A stellar performance from star sophomore Texas football running back and former elite five-star recruit Bijan Robinson has catapulted him to even greater heights this fall. Bijan helped new head coach Steve Sarkisian and this No. 21 ranked Texas team get a big win over a tough No. 23 ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns squad over the weekend.

This was definitely a tough test for Bijan, Sark, and the Longhorns out of the gates. It wasn’t made easy by the fact that Texas was breaking in a new coaching staff and new starting quarterback. But Texas dealt with the challenge well on their way to a huge 38-18 win over one of the best Group of Five teams in the entire country.

The 20-point win over the Ragin’ Cajuns came largely thanks to the steady dose of offense provided by the likes of Bijan and redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jordan Whittington. Those two combined for nearly 300 total yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns.

For his efforts over the weekend in the win over Louisiana, Bijan was able to earn Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors and Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week. Not only was he able to shine for the Big 12, but he got a weekly honor that some of the best performers on offense in the entire country get.

To get these weekly honors, Bijan registered 103 rushing yards on 20 carries (5.2 yards per carry), one rushing touchdown, 73 receiving yards on four catches (18.3 yards per catch), and one receiving touchdown.

This now makes it three straight weeks where Bijan registered at least 175 total yards from scrimmage and two total touchdowns. And since the regular season finale last year, Bijan now has 619 total yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns.

What was even more impressive about this game for Bijan was how effective he was as a blocker and how many tacklers he made miss. Bijan forced 10 missed tackles, gave the Longhorns nine first downs, and was actually the highest-graded pass blocker on the team.

That type of well-rounded impact is something that will soon start to dramatically boost Bijan’s NFL Draft stock. And with good reason, as he’s quickly becoming one of the most potent and well-rounded skill position players in all of college football.

We knew what Bijan could do on the ground coming into the season. But he’s starting to show what he can do as a blocker, receiver, and when the offensive line breaks down. If the offensive line actually starts getting a better push in the coming weeks than they did in the season opener, there’s no telling what Bijan will be able to do in run plays.
