Blitz heavy on the right side of the Arkansas offensive line

Turning the attention to the defensive side of the ball, there should also be a clear plan of attack for the Texas coaching staff. New co-defensive coordinators/linebackers coaches Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Choate should plan to attack the right side of the Arkansas offensive line if last season, and their Week 1 win over Rice, are any indication.

There’s a trio of names to watch along the right side of the Arkansas offensive line. The first is the towering 6-foot-9 and 330-pound senior right tackle Dalton Wagner will be the starter at one offensive tackle spot for Arkansas. And then, the right guard spot will namely be occupied by fellow senior Ty Clary. But Arkansas could give some reps to redshirt sophomore Beaux Limmer, who got some key looks against Rice last weekend.

It is important to note, that between Clary and Limmer at right guard, this spot gave up a combined three quarterback pressures against Rice. That was the most of any one spot on the line. Wagner added to that with two quarterback pressures of his own allowed.

Meanwhile, the left side of the offensive line, and the center spot, only gave up two quarterback pressures combined last weekend.

Right guard is likely the weakest spot of the offensive line for Arkansas. The uncertainty at right guard between Limmer and Clary could create an opportunity for Texas to get some pressure and disrupt starting quarterback KJ Jefferson. Rice was able to get some pressure at times on Jefferson last week, and it resulted in no completions and one pick from the dual-threat signal-caller.

The right side of the line also was the least effective spot where Arkansas ran the ball last weekend. This is an area where the likes of linebackers DeMarvion Overshown and Luke Brockermeyer could step up and really make an impact.

That’s not to mention some of the damage that defensive tackle Moro Ojomo could do getting in the backfield and disrupting the Arkansas ball carrier. If Texas shifts over to put some pressure on the right guard from Ojomo off the line of scrimmage, that could blow up a lot of plays in the backfield.
