A telling sign of the injury report being pretty optimistic for No. 15 ranked Texas football came about late this week in media availability from new head coach Steve Sarkisian. Texas was figured to announce what the injury status for the likes of junior tight end Jared Wiley and junior offensive guard Junior Angilau would be for this weekend’s big matchup on the road against the Arkansas Razorbacks on the night of Sep. 11.

Sark and the Longhorns should be with Wiley and Angilau in the lineup against a rising Arkansas team in Week 2. Wiley didn’t really get many snaps in the season-opening win over the No. 23 ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and head coach Billy Napier last weekend. In fact, Wiley only got nine snaps in the regular season opener.

Wiley was dealing with a shoulder issue since the end of fall camp. It looked like he could be held out of game action for the Longhorns even until the start of Big 12 play later this month. But it looks like the outlook for his return is now more optimistic.

This could be big since Wiley is a developing threat in the passing game that will be integral in the offense opposite of fellow tight end and super senior Cade Brewer.

Texas football set to get Junior Angilau and Jared Wiley back

But it is very important for Texas and new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood to get Angilau in the mix this weekend. Texas already had enough struggles along the offensive line last weekend against Louisiana. Missing Angilau would really hurt this group if that were the case against Arkansas in Week 2.

Angilau injured his knee in the win over Louisiana, and it didn’t look good when it first happened. And while he was monitored in practice this week, it appears he’s good enough to go this weekend.
