Texas Football: 5-Star Arch Manning excited about visit vs. OK State
The most high-profile key target of the 2023 Texas football recruiting class at this point in time, by a good margin, is the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. Texas and new head coach Steve Sarkisian seem to be putting their best foot forward early on in pursuit of Manning as the 2023 recruiting cycle will soon come to the forefront.
Sark and the Longhorns have more than 20 more commits in the 2022 class than they do in the 2023 class. Since there is yet to be a firm commit in the 2023 class, that’s not hard to say, though.
Building a foundation around Manning in the Longhorns 2023 class is an approach that is hard to argue with. Texas would have its quarterback of the future right away that would be a program-changer for Sark if Manning were to eventually take his talents to the Forty Acres.
It appears that the Longhorns took a lot of the right steps with Manning during the summer months. With the return of in-person visits over the summer, Texas was able to get Manning to campus on an unofficial visit during a big weekend back in June.
Manning is reportedly set to return to the Forty Acres this fall, which will be huge for Texas. It will be one of multiple crucial visits he’s set to take this summer.

According to a report from 247Sports this week, Manning is very excited about the October visit he has planned to Austin to see Texas take on the Big 12 foe Oklahoma State Cowboys and head coach Mike Gundy at DKR.
If Texas can right the ship before that game and find real traction at or near the top of the Big 12 standings, that would be huge in pursuit of winning over the interests of Manning. That would also help Texas get in a good spot with a number of other elite 2022 and 2023 high school prospects.
A few of the other programs that Manning is reportedly set to visit this fall includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, and Georgia Bulldogs. The LSU Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels are also two programs to watch in his recruitment at the moment.
This report from 247Sports also mentioned that Manning has long stayed in contact with Sark and new quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee. It noted that Manning got to hang out with sophomore quarterback Hudson Card, and he enjoyed that opportunity.
Manning is not only the top priority for the Longhorns 2023 class, but he is the top ranked high school prospect in the nation for that cycle. This is big for Milwee and Sark to be able to gain early traction in his recruitment.
