Texas Football: 3 adjustments Sarkisian must make before Big 12 play
It will not be long before new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program kicks off Big 12 play. Following a dominant, but expected, 58-0 win over the Rice Owls out of the Conference-USA at home last weekend, Texas carries a 2-1 record into the start of the Big 12 slate.
The Big 12 opener comes for Sark and the Longhorns with the ability to continue to right the ship following the bad loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks and head coach Sam Pittman two weekends ago. But beating head coach Matt Wells and the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Big 12 opener at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Sep. 25 will go a long way to help Longhorns fans put the Arkansas loss behind them.
Texas football and Steve Sarkisian have adjustments to be made before facing Texas Tech
Texas is set to take on the in-state foe Texas Tech to open up the Big 12 slate this coming weekend. Sark and the Longhorns are an 8.5-point favorite over Texas Tech, and the over/under is set at 61 points. And the ESPN matchup predictor (based on the Football Power Index) gives Texas nearly a 78 percent chance to beat Texas Tech this weekend.
If Texas can get off to a good start this weekend against Texas Tech, the confidence will continue to build for this team heading into bigger games against the likes of the TCU Horned Frogs and the Oklahoma schools.
But the loss to Arkansas, among other things on the stat sheet and on film, still looms large over Sark and the Longhorns heading into Big 12 play this weekend. Here’s a look into three adjustments that Sark must make before Texas kicks off Big 12 play against Texas Tech on Sep. 25.
