Denver Harris, CB

Yet another five-star defensive prospect that Texas is trying to make up ground with for the 2022 class at this point in time is the elite North Shore cornerback Denver Harris. Texas looked like the slight frontrunner at one point during the recruitment of Harris, but that lead has faded in the last few months.

Harris is definitely the top cornerback prospect for the Longhorns 2022 class. And if Texas winds up missing out on the former commit and four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau to either Texas A&M or the TCU Horned Frogs when it’s all said and done, Harris becomes even more important to the 2022 class.

Texas hasn’t landed a cornerback of the stature of Harris in a long time. He would completely change the face and direction of this secondary for Joseph were he to land with the Longhorns 2022 class in the end.

Texas will have to beat out a trio of schools including the Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU, and Texas A&M if they want to ultimately win over the commitment of Harris.

Moreover, this will be the first visit for Harris to the Forty Acres since his official back in June. And with planned visits still remaining this fall with the likes of Alabama and LSU, Texas needs to get this one right with Harris.

A solid showing for the Longhorns defense would go a long way to making the right impression with Harris this weekend in the Big 12 opener against Texas Tech.
