Matayo Uiagalelei, Edge Rusher

It’s hard to find a more important visitor this weekend for the Longhorns among 2023 high school prospects on the defensive side of the ball than the elite five-star St. John Bosco defensive end/edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei. The brother of former Texas five-star target and Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, Matayo is of key importance this weekend for the Longhorns.

Uiagalelei would be quite the way for the Longhorns to start off the 2023 class.

There was only one commit that ever sat in the Longhorns 2023 class at any point for Sark. And that was five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens, who could still land with the Longhorns when it’s all said and done.

But Texas has to get the first commit in the 2023 class to keep up with the likes of Texas A&M and Oklahoma at some point in the not-too-distant future.

Uiagalelei is one of multiple talented St. John Bosco (CA) players that will be visiting the Forty Acres for the Big 12 opener. The west coast connection is very much alive here for Sark and his staff with a truly elite prospect in this 6-foot-4 and 255-pound edge rusher.

Uiagalelei is currently one of the highest-rated prospects that has an offer from the Longhorns 2023 class. He ranks as the nation’s No. 12 2023 high school prospect, the top overall edge rusher, and the No. 2 prospect out of California (247Sports Composite).
