There are some critical visit weekends ahead for top prospects of the 2022 and 2023 Texas football recruiting classes. And this weekend will be no exception for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff as the visitor list seemingly keeps piling up for the Big 12 opener at home against head coach Matt Wells and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

One of the most important 2023 prospects for the Longhorns that will be visiting for the Texas Tech game this weekend is the elite five-star St. John Bosco (CA) defensive end/edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei. A report from Horns247 earlier this week was one of the first sources to confirm this.

And a full list of visitors from 247Sports for Texas this weekend confirms again the visit with Uiagalelei, among a large group of St. John Bosco players making their way over from California.

Uiagalelei is definitely one of the highest-rated visiting prospects among those targets of the Longhorns 2023 class that will be on campus this weekend. The 6-foot-4 and 255-pound edge rusher, and brother of Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, has already picked up a lot of steam in his recruitment since the turn of the calendar year.

Now up to 20 schools on his ever-growing offer sheet as of the morning of Sep. 24, Uiagalelei is one of the more momentous 2023 high school prospects to watch around the country of late. Some of the highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans.

Texas offered Uiagalelei back in February, so they were one of the earlier schools on his offer sheet.

This is big to get Uiagalelei on his first real visit to the Forty Acres during a big game weekend. He’s also getting to do so with a number of his other touted teammates from St. John Bosco.

New Texas special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and defensive line coach Bo Davis have to make the right impression with Uiagalelei this weekend as his top recruiters from this Longhorns staff.
