Texas Football: 4 key recruits Sarkisian impressed with win over Tech
Braylon James, WR
As what could be one of the more important visits that the highly coveted four-star Del Valle (TX) wide receiver Braylon James takes to any game this fall, Texas needed to get this one right. James was one of a few blue-chip skill position targets on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns 2022 and 2023 classes on campus for a visit for the Texas Tech game this weekend.
And it looks like Texas got off on the right foot with James for his first visit on a game weekend for the Longhorns with the Sark coaching regime in place. Texas couldn’t do much better, in terms of results purely on the field, to impress a prospect like James than they did with this 70-point and five passing touchdown outburst against the Red Raiders.
Here’s what James reportedly had to say following this win over Texas Tech this weekend, which sounds great for the direction Texas is headed in with him.
"This is hands down the best I’ve seen this offense play in a minute. Definitely something really good and comfortable to see."
James has also reportedly grown his relationship with Coleman and the Longhorns staff of late. Texas looks to have some real traction of late with James, which should bode well for where the 2023 class is headed at the wide receiver position.
Texas is one of a growing number of schools to place a lot of priority on the recruitment of James. Some of the other notable schools (more than three dozen of which have offered him thus far) that make up his offer sheet includes the Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, USC Trojans, and Texas A&M.
James is also one of the highest-rated 2023 wideout prospects to get a Texas offer thus far. He ranks as the nation’s No. 75 2023 high school prospect, No. 11 wide receiver, and No. 12 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).
