Texas Football: 4 overreactions from eruptive win over Texas Tech
Xavier Worthy, Jordan Whittington, and Bijan Robinson will combine for 2,000 receiving yards
This part of the list is not so far out of the realm of possibility either for the Longhorns. If the Texas passing game keeps up with the pace it has established in games they’ve played at home this season, the trio of Bijan, freshman wide receiver Xavier Worthy, and redshirt sophomore Jordan Whittington are on pace to have a huge 2021 campaign.
Redshirt junior breakout quarterback Casey Thompson has helped to orchestrate an offense that has averaged around 250 passing yards per game, and four touchdowns, in the last two weeks. And that all came while the ground game is giving Texas roughly 350 rushing yards per game.
Thompson found Worthy and Whittington for a combined 10 catches for 193 receiving yards, and a whopping four touchdown catches. If you add Bijan to that mix, you tally up nearly 250 receiving yards and five touchdown catches.
So far this season, Bijan, Worthy, and Whittington have combined for 653 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches. That trio is now on pace to compile just over 2,120 receiving yards on the season (assuming the Longhorns get to play 13 games).
Assuming that this trio is able to compile more than 2,000 receiving yards combined is a pretty realistic expectation. But that expectation is realistic as long as Thompson stays hot and the duo of Worthy and Whittington continue to play a much bigger role in the offense than redshirt junior wide receiver Joshua Moore.
