Devon Campbell, OL

Definitely the most highly-coveted target for the Longhorns 2022 class along the offensive line a few months out from the Early Signing Period is the elite five-star Bowie offensive guard Devon Campbell. For a few months now, Texas looked to be the frontrunner to eventually land a commitment from Campbell.

Texas is going to have to put in its best effort, though, to keep other schools from prying into the lead that the Longhorns could hold right now. Campbell is set to be in attendance for the Alabama Crimson Tide as they take on the upstart Ole Miss Rebels and head coach Lane Kiffin this coming weekend.

The other top schools to watch in contention to land a commitment from Campbell are the LSU Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners, USC Trojans, and Alabama.

Texas was looking to get a visit from Campbell for the final non-conference game of the regular season two weekends ago at home in a dominant win over the Rice Owls. But Campbell was not able to make that trip in the end. Texas is still expected to get Campbell to campus for a visit during a game weekend this fall.

For the time being, it is worth monitoring how other game/unofficial visits go for Campbell. Alabama looks to be trying to make a real run at Campbell now, and USC has pushed hard lately too.

Nonetheless, Texas still looks to have a firm grip on the recruitment of Campbell. All four expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions are picking Texas to land Campbell’s commitment over the rest of the field. And the Rivals FutureCast still has all of their analysts and publishers picking Campbell to land with Texas.
