A large emphasis placed on the progress of the 2022 Texas football recruiting class this fall has come about this week in the news cycle for this program. With new Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian still having multiple top blue-chip recruits left on the board this fall for the 2022 class, there’s a lot to zone in on in the few months remaining before the Early Signing Period in December.

And one area where the Longhorns are trying to get a push in the 2022 class is with existing commits recruiting some of the other top remaining prospects on the board this fall for the coaching staff. Texas is getting a good effort from the likes of four-star commit and Aledo safety Bryan Allen Jr. this fall in trying to recruit other elite recruits that the Longhorns 2022 class is going after.

At the moment, Allen Jr. is actually the highest-rated commit in the Longhorns 2022 class. And he could really help to build something significant with some of the prospects he is trying to recruit himself to the Longhorns 2022 class of late.

According to a Horns247 report this week (paid content), Allen Jr. is pushing hard to recruit two key five-star prospects to the Longhorns 2022 class this fall. One of those is the elite five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart. And the other is five-star North Shore cornerback Denver Harris.

While it is very significant that Allen Jr. is pushing hard to recruit Stewart, it is even more important to see this effort with Harris. It should be more impactful that someone so close geographically, that also plays in the secondary, with Harris is trying to get him to the Forty Acres.

If Texas were to land a commitment from Harris, it would truly make this secondary class one of the best in the entire country. Texas has something pretty solid in store right now between the blue-chip safety commit duo of Austin Jordan and Allen Jr.

Add Harris to help solidify the cornerback positions, and the Longhorns look really good heading into the Early Signing Period.

Texas did host Harris for a visit last weekend in the dominant 35-point win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. And it looked like that visit with Harris was a success by most indications.

Texas is also looking to get Stewart on campus for a visit for the weekend of the game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Oct. 16. Stewart had a busy news cycle of late, especially with him dropping out of the rest of his senior season this week at Liberty.

Harris and Stewart are two of the top remaining targets of the Longhorns 2022 class. It would be hard not to say that the other of the most important remaining five-star targets of the 2022 class is the Bowie offensive guard Devon Campbell.
