In what is sure to be one of the most pivotal games of the regular season for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program, this team is set to take on the biggest thorn in their side of any Big 12 foe in recent years. Texas doesn’t really have a stingier opponent in the last decade in the Big 12 than TCU.

The Longhorns just can’t seem to shake head coach Gary Patterson and the Horned Frogs from beating them almost every single season. Texas has lost six of the last seven meetings to TCU. And a few of them were heartbreakers, like the one last season that came via a Keaontay Ingram goalline fumble in the dying minutes of the fourth quarter.

Texas football has a lot to worry about vs. TCU in Week 5

Texas is going to have a long weekend if Sark can’t make the necessary adjustments to be able to knock off the Horned Frogs on Oct. 2. While TCU didn’t look great in a loss to the SMU Mustangs, you can’t expect that Patterson’s squad will come out slow against the Longhorns.

Sark and the Longhorns need to take the momentum this team found in a dominant 35-point win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders last weekend and continue to build on that against TCU. Texas comes into this game with a record of 3-1 (1-0 Big 12) following last weekend’s win over the Red Raiders.

And TCU brings a record of 2-1 (0-0 Big 12) into their conference opener following that heartbreaking loss to the Mustangs last weekend. Nonetheless, we should expect the Frogs to use some of their top weapons to come out strong against Texas on Oct. 2.

Here’s a look into three of the most problematic Horned Frogs players for the Longhorns to deal with this weekend.
