Texas Football: Bijan Robinson says Zach Evans is a ‘great running back’
There will be a big time running back showdown on tap for this weekend as the Texas football program takes on the stingy TCU Horned Frogs in Fort Worth. Texas and new head coach Steve Sarkisian will try to keep the momentum rolling in Big 12 play against head coach Gary Patterson in what is the conference opener for TCU.
Sark and the Longhorns are coming off a huge 35-point win over head coach Matt Wells and the Texas Tech Red Raiders in their Big 12 opener at home last weekend. Meanwhile, TCU will be attempting to bounce back from a tough one-possession loss to head coach Sonny Dykes and the SMU Mustangs.
Texas got a big outing on the ground, and through the air, once again from star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson in the win over Texas Tech. Bijan still very much remains in Heisman contention among the nation’s top running backs through Week 4.
In the win over Texas Tech, Bijan registered 137 rushing yards on 18 carries, no rushing touchdowns, and 54 receiving yards and one touchdown catch. Bijan now has close to 600 total yards from scrimmage and seven total touchdowns through four games this fall.

Moreover, Bijan and the Longhorns will have a notable running back battle on their hands this weekend. The Horned Frogs also boast one of the most talented running backs in the Big 12 in the former elite five-star recruit and sophomore Zach Evans.
Bijan talked about what he sees in Evans and how he feels about this running back matchup heading into this critical conference battle with TCU. He mentioned that he feels that Evans is a “great running back” and that he’s glad to see that the fellow former five-star recruit found a school that he is “comfortable” at, in a piece with the Austin American-Statesman this week.
This goes to show how much respect Bijan has for another one of the top running back prospects from his recruiting class. And there should be at least one or two significant battles between these two standout rushers before their time in college is done.
Since neither Bijan nor Evans really played in the meeting between these two teams last season, this will be really the first matchup between these two stud rushers. Evans only got one carry for three yards against the Longhorns in a last-minute win for the Horned Frogs last season.
And Bijan didn’t get any work at all last season against the Horned Frogs.
Texas comes into this meeting with TCU with a record of 3-1 (1-0 Big 12) coming off the win last weekend over Texas Tech. Meanwhile, TCU comes in with a record of 2-1 (0-0 Big 12) following the loss to SMU. Kickoff time between Texas and TCU is set for 11 a.m. CT at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth on Oct. 2.
