A key battle looms large for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program against the stingiest of Big 12 programs for this team in the past decade. Texas is set to take on head coach Gary Patterson and the challenging TCU Horned Frogs on the road in Fort Worth on Oct. 2.

This will be the second game of the Big 12 slate this season for Sark and the Longhorns. And it will be the Big 12 opener for TCU. Texas started out the Big 12 slate by knocking off head coach Matt Wells and the Texas Tech Red Raiders at home last weekend, by the dominant final score of 70-35.

Meanwhile, TCU is coming off a tough one-possession loss to head coach Sonny Dykes and the SMU Mustangs last weekend. Texas is coming in with a record of 3-1 (1-0 Big 12) following that 35-point win over Texas Tech. And TCU comes in with a record of 2-1 (0-0 Big 12) following their home loss to SMU.

Texas football will be without some key DBs this weekend vs. TCU

Most indications would point to Texas as a pretty heavy favorite from looking at how each team fared last weekend. But that is usually not a great indicator of how these TCU-Texas games will play out.

Patterson is a true thorn in the side of the Longhorns. He seems to always save his best for the Longhorns. TCU has won six of the last seven games in this series, and two in a row. Texas needs to be ready for anything that Patterson and the Horned Frogs has to throw at them this weekend.

One thing that will hurt the Longhorns this weekend in this critical meeting with TCU is the fact that the injuries have started to pile up in the week leading up to this game. Here’s a look into three notable injuries that will hamper the Longhorns vs. TCU.
