Texas Football: 3 reasons the Longhorns will dominate TCU
Exposed TCU run defense can get gashed by Bijan Robinson
In a week where head coach Sonny Dykes and the SMU Mustangs were able to break open the TCU defense on the ground, the Longhorns saw where this group could continue to be exposed. This is the prime opportunity that Sark and the Longhorns had to be waiting for to let star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson run wild against a key Big 12 opponent.
No disrespect to the standout SMU running back Ulysses Bentley IV, but he is now Bijan. Last weekend, Bentley went for more than 150 rushing yards on 20 attempts (7.7 yards per carry), and one rushing score. He had more than 100 yards after initial contact, five missed tackles forced, and eight first downs.
The inside zone did a lot of damage to the Horned Frogs last weekend. Bentley got more than 100 of his rushing yards last week just off that one type of run play, specifically going off the right guard and between the left guard and center.
Bijan has shown us in the last two years that he can run up the middle, between the tackles, or bounce out to the outside and pick up yards in chunks. That type of versatility will likely be difficult for TCU to contain out of the gates.
TCU gave up a whopping 352 rushing yards and had nearly two-dozen missed tackles against the Mustangs last weekend. Texas is demolishing opponents on the ground in their last two games. Bijan, along with the likes of Roschon Johnson, Keilan Robinson, Jonathon Brooks, etc. should be ready to go off yet again.
