Heading into last weekend, it looked like it would be a tremendous challenge for new head coach Steve Sarkisian to get the monkey that is the stingy TCU Horned Frogs and head coach Gary Patterson off the back for Texas football this year. Texas has struggled to a lofty extent to get the best of TCU in the past decade.

Since the Horned Frogs joined the Big 12 in the early 2010s, they’ve continually bested the Longhorns without too much trouble. Coming into last weekend’s meeting between these two teams, TCU had won six of the last seven games over Texas. And the last time that Texas had downed TCU was back in 2018, which came by the final score of 31-16.

Despite how the Longhorns looked so good in the Big 12 opener against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, which amounted to a dominant 70-35 win at home back on Sep. 25, there were still some doubts about how Texas would perform against TCU on the road on Oct. 2. Nonetheless, Texas looked confident from the outset and came away with a win over the weekend.

Texas got a win over TCU on the late morning/early afternoon of Oct. 2 in Fort Worth by the final score of 32-27. TCU made a late rally to pull the game within one possession. But the Texas offense did enough, in the end, to run down the clock and get this big win to extend the winning streak to three games.

How should Longhorns fans feel coming away from this game? Here’s a look into four overreactions following the win over TCU last weekend.
