Two of the bigger misses for Sark, Flood, and the Longhorns on the recruiting trail for the 2022 class this year both landed with head coach Mario Cristobal and the Oregon Ducks in Eugene. Those two big misses also both play at a position of need in the Longhorns 2022 class, at offensive tackle.

The first of the two is the five-star Summer Creek (TX) offensive tackle Kelvin Banks. The in-state product Banks committed to Oregon over Texas and Texas A&M during the summer.

And the second of these two offensive tackle misses from the summer for the Longhorns 2022 class is the towering 6-foot-5 and 360-pound Duncanville product Cameron Williams.

Banks and Williams committed to Oregon in the span of just a few days back in late June and early July. Williams specifically committed to the Ducks back on July 1. But it feels like Texas still has a chance to push for a flip of Williams if they put a lot of attention and effort into building the relationship with him throughout the rest of the fall.

It is big for Texas to host Williams for Red River this weekend. In fact, with both Texas and Oklahoma looking like top schools with Williams early in the summer during the offseason, this is a really big weekend for these two programs in trying to flip his commitment.

Flood has seemingly put a lot of priority in trying to flip the commitment of Williams. Considering how much help Texas might wind up needing at the offensive tackle position in the 2022 class by the time the Early Signing Period arrives, that is a good move by him.
