Texas Football: Evan Stewart set to visit for Red River vs. OU
What could be a really critical set of games against the Oklahoma schools in the next two weeks could impact the 2022 Texas football recruiting class to a great extent. And there is set to be a particular target of the 2022 class that looks to be in attendance for each of the next two games for Texas.
One of the most important remaining prospects on the board for the 2022 class and new head coach Steve Sarkisian is the elite five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver, Evan Stewart. A report confirmed by 247Sports on Oct. 4 notes that Stewart is set to be in attendance for the Red River Rivalry game this weekend against the Oklahoma Sooners.
Since Texas is technically the home team for Red River this year, they are allowed an allotment of tickets to invite parties like visiting prospects and their families/close friends. It looks like Stewart will be one of those visiting prospects set to get some tickets.
And then, the Longhorns were already in the process of getting a visit on the books for Stewart to Austin for the Oct. 16 meeting with the Oklahoma State Cowboys and head coach Mike Gundy. Since Texas is now allowed to have any direct contact with any of the visiting prospects for Red River, since it’s at a neutral site, the visit for the Oklahoma State game is obviously still of the utmost importance.
Texas football set to have Evan Stewart visiting vs. OU
Stewart is definitely one of the most important remaining prospects for Sark and the Longhorns to seal the deal with. Texas once held the commitment of Stewart in the 2022 class. But a lot has happened since his March 2021 de-commitment from Texas.
Since that time, Stewart has opted out of the rest of his senior high school football season, trended to Florida, and then seen his recruitment flatten out this fall.
It is also worth noting that Stewart is still set to take an official visit to Tuscaloosa with the Alabama Crimson Tide in early November. Texas, Florida, and LSU look to be the three schools to watch with Alabama down the stretch in pursuit of Stewart’s commitment.
Texas is about to hit a critical stretch run on the recruiting trail this fall, especially with the 2022 class. Sark and his staff look to be just a few pieces away from largely rounding out this 2022 class just a couple of months ahead of the Early Signing Period.
