There is a huge visitor list of prospects that new head coach Steve Sarkisian is set to host for the meeting between No. 25 ranked Texas football and No. 12 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys this weekend at DKR. Texas is set to host a number of crucial prospects for the staff to hit on that are targets of the 2022 and 2023 recruiting classes.

Sark and the Longhorns did have roughly 90 prospects in attendance for the annual Red River Rivalry game that resulted in a loss to head coach Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners last weekend. But Texas didn’t get to have any in-person contact with those visiting prospects that they hosted for Red River, since they were technically the home team.

That is since the game was held at a neutral site.

Since Texas couldn’t have any contact with the visiting prospects for Red River last weekend, this is a huge opportunity for the Longhorns to have this type of atmosphere for hosting so many important visitors. And one particular position of need for the Longhorns to hit on in the 2022 and 2023 classes is all along the offensive line.

Texas has struggled in the trenches on both sides of the ball throughout much of this season. This shows the need that Sark and new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood have to add depth in the trenches. And with all of the important visitors set to be in Austin for the Oklahoma State game this weekend, Texas can make the right impression with a lot of their top prospects.

Texas will also be hosting some current commits in the 2022 class this weekend. One of those is three-star Westlake interior offensive lineman Connor Robertson. It will be important for Robertson to play the role of a recruiter too for the Longhorns this weekend.

According to a report from Horns247 on Oct. 12 (paid content), Texas will also be hosting a local offensive line prospect in four-star 2023 Westlake offensive tackle TJ Shanahan. As one of the early emerging top local targets of the Longhorns 2023 class, Shanahan is an important name to follow from here on out.

Shanahan will reportedly be one of the many blue-chip recruits on campus for the Oklahoma State game this weekend. And this Horns247 piece mentions that Robertson has grown closer with Shanahan in the last few months as they are two key teammates that are starters along Westlake’s offensive line.

Texas needs to make the right impression with top offensive line targets for the 2022 and 2023 classes this weekend against the solid defense that Oklahoma State brings to the table. A convincing win over Oklahoma State would definitely do enough for Texas to make some positive momentum with offensive line targets like Shanahan.

Texas is still seeking out its first commit in the 2023 class at this point of the fall. If Texas can rebound following the bad collapse of a loss to Oklahoma back on Oct. 9, then it shouldn’t be too long before the first few commits arrive for the 2023 class.
