Looking to recover from a really bad meltdown of a loss in the second half at the hands of head coach Lincoln Riley and the No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Sooners last weekend, No. 25 Texas football is ready for a bounce-back outing. There are a lot of encouraging signs about the weekend to come for Texas, including an offense that the No. 12 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys and head coach Mike Gundy that is one of the Big 12’s worst this season.

This game will be about new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns beating the Oklahoma State defense, which is one of the Big 12’s best. The season for Oklahoma State thus far has floated on a good defense and mediocre offense beating out some decent opposition.

To get to a record of 5-0 (2-0 Big 12), Oklahoma State beat the likes of the Kansas State Wildcats, Boise State Broncos, and Baylor Bears. And Oklahoma State is a really good-looking defense thus far, but keeping that pace up against a very explosive and talented Texas offense is going to be a major looming storyline.

Texas is coming off the bad loss to Oklahoma last weekend. Sark and the Longhorns bring a record of 4-2 (2-1 Big 12) into this meeting with Oklahoma State. A win over Oklahoma State would still establish Texas among the frontrunners to make the Big 12 Championship Game.

Entering this game, Texas is a 3.5 point favorite over Oklahoma State for this game on Oct. 16. And the ESPN matchup predictor (based on the Football Power Index) gives Texas just north of a 79 percent chance to beat Oklahoma State this weekend.

Here’s a look at the live stream, kick-off time, pick for the game, and more as Texas takes on Oklahoma State at home on Oct. 16.

For yet another weekend, Texas gets one of the big-time 11 a.m. kick-off time slots. And this is yet another weekend where the Longhorns will be broadcast live in front of a national television, this time on Fox.

We will get the Fox Sports “Big Noon Kickoff” team previewing this game ahead of kickoff. Texas should have plenty of hype for this game, including the visitor list that is very lengthy for the weekend.

Injured Texas football players

Texas is set to head into this meeting with Oklahoma State with a few injuries to note. Senior Denzel Okafor is out for the season, but that injury occurred in the loss to the TCU Horned Frogs two weeks ago. That is not new injury news.

Meanwhile, it looks like redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jordan Whittington is set to miss the res tof the regular season, which is a huge loss for the receiving corps. Whittington and Xavier Worthy were the two most explosive wideouts for Texas up to this point.

And Texas is set to miss senior defensive end, Jacoby Jones, for at least a few weeks. Jones also suffered an injury in the loss to Red River at the hands of Oklahoma last weekend. It is costly for Texas to miss both Whittington and Jones long-term.

Picking Texas football vs. Oklahoma State

There will once again be a heavy emphasis on Texas getting a quick start on the ground. The Longhorns need to get star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson going early on to get the edge over this Pokes defense.

A really big deciding factor for this game will be figuring out if Texas can hold off the Oklahoma State pass rush. A plethora of injuries have not limited a potent Oklahoma State defensive front from getting to the passer this fall.

This still feels like Texas’ game to lose. Anything better than a bad performance from the offensive line should be enough for Texas to win.
