It was hard to imagine that new head coach Steve Sarkisian could see Texas football suffer two meltdowns that were so drastic in how they happened two games in a row against two of the most important opponents all season long. Texas fell short at the hands of the No. 12 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys and head coach Mike Gundy over the weekend in the second straight loss to an Oklahoma school by way of a second-half collapse.

Two nightmare scenarios for the Longhorns for two straight weeks make this a difficult pill to swallow heading into the bye week. As this is the first real bye week of the season for Sark and the Longhorns, there needs to be some serious reflecting time that takes place and adjustments made before the next big-time Big 12 game arrives for this team.

Just a few weeks ago, the Longhorns looked to be in a good position to get a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game following a big road win over the stingy TCU Horned Frogs. Two short weeks later, not only are the Longhorns chances for the Big 12 Title Game on life support, that isn’t really even a relevant focus at the moment.

Texas just needs to get a good win coming out of the bye week and prevent these fourth-quarter collapses. Getting healthier, making the proper adjustments, and just getting the mindset right have to be the main tasks at hand during the bye week. Texas doesn’t have any momentum to ride heading into the bye week, and resting on any laurels would be incorrect.

With all of this in mind, here’s a look into five overreactions from the Longhorns 32-24 meltdown of a loss to Oklahoma State at home on Oct. 16.
