It felt for a good while like the 2022 and 2023 Texas football recruiting classes would feel the direct impact of the loss for this team in another bad meltdown on the field over the weekend. New head coach Steve Sarkisian saw his No. 25 ranked Texas squad fall short at the hands of an Oklahoma school in a second-half collapse for the second straight week.

Sark and the Longhorns would wind up falling short to head coach Mike Gundy and the No. 12 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys at home on Oct. 16. This meltdown saw the Longhorns give up 19-straight points to the Pokes to grab the loss by the final score of 32-24.

Texas also fell short at the hands of head coach Lincoln Riley and the No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Sooners in the annual Red River Rivalry game the weekend prior after getting outscored 45-20 in the last three quarters. The Longhorns just can’t keep following this trend in the back half of the season.

And one prospect that seemed visibly frustrated with the way that the Longhorns collapsed over the weekend against the Pokes was the four-star Klein Cain running back commit Jaydon Blue. According to a report from Horns247 (paid content) coming out of the weekend, Blue expressed some feelings and made some comments that were apparently sounding worse than he actually felt about the Longhorns.

Texas football reportedly still firm with 4-Star RB commit Jaydon Blue

This also apparently led some to believe that there was some doubt creeping into the status of Blue’s commitment. But that didn’t catch any steam really, and it sounds like Blue’s commitment is firm to Texas right now.

He even tweeted out at the elite five-star Bowie IOL Devon Campbell that he should “imagine having the best back behind you” referring to a potential commitment to Texas. Campbell is one of the top remaining targets left on the board for the Longhorns in the 2022 class this fall.

Moreover, it will be interesting to see if this storyline surrounding Blue’s frustration with the loss to Oklahoma State last weekend will amount to anything. It’s hard to speculate when there isn’t anything that remains on social media, or any known communication with other schools, at the moment.

Blue is currently one of two blue-chip running back commits in the Longhorns 2022 class. The other is fellow four-star rusher and Tyler Legacy product, Jamarion Miller.
