The investment continues to go into the Texas football program for the future under new head coach Steve Sarkisian. Texas athletic director Chris del Conte is helping to fund the rise of this athletic program as a whole, and that all starts with a good football team. The investment in this football program is also an encouraging sign as Texas is soon to embark on the move to leave the Big 12 for the SEC.

Competing in the SEC will involve the Longhorns bringing a high standard of success and investment to the table, especially in football. And that’s where the investment in facilities could be key to gaining an edge on the recruiting trail, thus likely finding more success on the field in football.

According to a report from Horns247 (paid content) on Oct. 28, Texas is investing $40 million into a new indoor practice facility that should be ready by the time the football program makes the move from the Big 12 to the SEC. Ground is reportedly set to be broken on construction for this new indoor practice facility in 2022.

The indoor bubble right now at Denius Fields will be close to the location of where the new practice facility is going to be built. It sounds like the goal was for the Longhorns to keep the new facility close to DKR and the team’s locker rooms, but that might not be a reality when it’s all said and done.

Moreover, this is still good to hear that the Longhorns are keeping up a high level of investment in the facilities for the football program. While there are some schools that have nice facilities among the Big 12’s football programs, the SEC takes this conversation to another level.

Texas is trying to right the ship on the field this fall, but it looks like the building blocks are being put into place for a sustained level of success in the near future. Investing in the future of this program is a good sign of things to come on the field and on the recruiting trail.
